Haunted West, a Historical Weird West RPG Corebook

Created by Chris Spivey, Darker Hue Studios

One moment sets the course of destiny. But what if that one moment was changed in the smallest of ways? What if one madman's plan actually were to succeed beyond our known history? The Old West—The Wild West, The American Frontier—is one of the world’s most familiar modern myths. The time was draped in ruggedness; there was an idealized dream of freedom, and a notion that just one person could shape the world. That myth belongs to all of us. Yet so many stories of truth, justice, and the American Way have been stolen, erased, and never recorded. Haunted West is a game about hope through struggle. It is a game that pieces together the stories of the largely forgotten people of the Old West, the people who have been whitewashed by history. Discover the American experience in the Weird West. Grab your rifle, jet pack, and spurs to battle traitorous rebels in the defense of freedom, join the fight against temporally displaced dinosaurs, rustle cattle to make ends meet, and hijack a train full of illicit Confederate gold!

Latest Updates from Our Project:

CTHULHU MYTHOS IS COMING TO HAUNTED WEST!
over 4 years ago – Mon, Oct 21, 2019 at 06:25:43 PM

It's late on a Sunday night here, but I just had to share the good news that we've reached our next stretch goal:

The Cthulhu Mythos awakens, destroying our lucidity, by the Lovecraftian bookhound himself Charles Gerard. Charles is a writer and sometime journalist based in New York City. He considers tabletop role-playing games to be a form of astral projection, through which he can explore the weird and absurd. He is most drawn to horror and adjacent genres. Monsters freak him out. And he might be one. Curiosity is his superpower and his fatal flaw.

Since we're approach the halfway mark of our campaign, we went ahead and added a long list of stretch goals to the KS page, and man, they are awesome!!! Take a look and comment here, if you'd want, with the one(s) you're most looking forward to.

We want to be like Pokemon and catch them all, but we need your help to keep spreading the good word. Only a few weeks left to support Haunted West.

You've uncovered another Secret Stretch Goal!
over 4 years ago – Mon, Oct 14, 2019 at 02:53:51 PM

Want more Weird in your Weird West game? We’ve got you covered. Let’s step a bit more into the Weird with two Paragons steeped in it. These player characters align nicely with the current crop, bringing us up to an even dozen!

The Practitioner – You’ve already made the bargain with the supernatural and begin to play with one of the schools of magick and are knowledgeable of its use. While Mystics may be closer to the Weird than most but, you’ve seen past the veil.

The Resolute - The Weird tried to break you but only found an unwavering opponent. You’ve dedicated yourself to fighting the Weird with whatever you’ve got—bow, six-shooter, words, or your own two hands. Resolve and dedication are unparalleled.

The Other 10 Paragons: The Academic; The Cowpoke; The Gadgeteer; The Gunslinger; The Holy; The Hunter; The Law; The Libertine; The Mystic; The Official

The Mythos is less than $1,000 away! You can get us there by continuing to spread the Haunted West word.

Giddy up!

This one is a favorite, for good reason: another 10% pay bump for the hard working core book creative team! Thank you all for joining us on this journey and getting us to this milestone.

The next two goals are looming large, and I really hope we can reach them because THEY ARE AWESOME:

The Cthulhu Mythos awakens, destroying our lucidity, by the Lovecraftian bookhound himself Charles Gerard. Charles is a writer and sometime journalist based in New York City. He considers tabletop role-playing games to be a form of astral projection, through which he can explore the weird and absurd. He is most drawn to horror and adjacent genres. Monsters freak him out. And he might be one. Curiosity is his superpower and his fatal flaw.

Written by the voraciously talented Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan, The Town of Bannack is a dying Boomtown where you can buy anything for the right price, and the only thing more corrupt than the town itself is the Sheriff. Gar turns guilt and tea into words. He's written many, many rpg supplements, including OGL Wild West back in the strange frontier days of 3rd edition.

Please continue to share the Haunted West love. Appreciate your support.
